Neuroprotective strategies in neurodegenerative diseases (GT2)

Our group, located at the Alberto Sols Biomedical Research Institute (UAM-CSIC), is also part of La Paz Health Research Institute (IDiPAZ) and the Network for Biomedical Research on Neurodegenerative Diseases (CIBERNED). These structures allow us to actively collaborate with clinical neurologists and pathologists from the Tissue Bank of the Reina Sofía Foundation.

Our research lines are focused on studying the molecular basis of neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation with the aim of discovering new pharmacological targets for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.

Since 2012 our group has registered 3 patents and published 50 articles in international journals related to the role of oxidative, protein and inflammatory stress in neurodegenerative diseases and the relevant role of NRF2. We have also carried out several projects in collaboration with private companies (Noscira, Biogen, Evgen, Aclipse).
