Paloma graduated with Honors in Chemistry from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2016, and obtained a Master degree in Organic Chemistry from the same university in 2017.

During her graduated studies, she carried out an internship in the biopharmaceutical company PharmaMar S.A., where she worked on the identification and isolation of compounds from marine samples that can be used as antitumor agents.

In 2015, she joined the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory at Universidad Complutense de Madrid to work on the synthesis of molecules inspired on microbiota metabolites and their phenotypic evaluation in cancer stem cells, with a “Collaboration Grant” from the Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte. In 2016, she obtained an “Excellence Master degree Grant” from Universidad Complutense de Madrid to continue this research project based on the human microbiota.

In 2018, she got a FPI-UAM fellowship to carry out her PhD Thesis in Organic Chemistry in the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid working in a research project based on the design, synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of new multitarget compounds for the treatment of Alzheimer´s disease.
